The North Face
The North Face, named after the coldest, most formidable side of mountains in the northern hemisphere, started surprisingly not on the slopes, but on San Francisco's North Beach. It was 1966 when friends, Douglas Tompkins and Kenneth Klopp agreed to follow their passion for adventure and open a mountaineering retail store called The North Face. Popularity grew with a reputation for good gear and a background firmly rooted in exploration of the outdoors, the pair regularly sponsoring expeditions to all corners of the globe. Today the brand is one of the most respected and reliable of its kind, providing not only functional construction, but innovative, fashion forward designs protecting you whilst you tackle the trail or pound the pavement!
