The North Face NSE Sagarmatha Parka Blue Wing Teal
In 1987, Sally McCoy, Director of Equipment at The North Face, attempted to become the first American woman to climb the peak of Everest. Efforts were halted due to poor weather conditions, but lessons learned lead to the development of some of TNF's most iconic silhouettes. The AW20 'Expedition Pack' celebrates the attempt, whilst looking to preserve the mountain range for future generations by using recycled materials created from plastic bottles pulled from the Himalayan foothills.
The NSE Sagarmatha Parka delivers mountain-quality warmth and coverage in retro colour-blocked style, with a recycled ripstop shell filled with 700-fill-power down and finished with a non-PFC DWR. The front features two zipped chest pockets, two zipped hand pockets, two flapped top-downs and a 2-way zip placket protected by a padded double-layer storm flap. The hood is drawcord-adjustable and features a large hook-and-loop chin guard to protect the face and neck. Hook-and-loop tabs alter the cuffs and another elastic drawcord adjusts the bottom hem. The chest and back yoke are detailed with custom Expedition System logo embroidery and a Sagarmatha mountain range patch finishes the left sleeve.
