The Nike Air Max 1 was the first Nike Sneaker to feature a visible Nike Air Cushioning System. Who would have thought that in years to come, the Nike Air window would turn the Nike Air Max 1 or Nike Air Max 87 into the icon that it is today. The original Nike Air Max 1 featured a synthetic suede and nylon mesh upper but todays releases include Engineered Mesh and Hyperfuse variations. The Air Max 87 was first re-issued in 1992 with a few modifications from the original release, most notably, the Midsole and Outsole were taken from the Nike Air Max 90 and all the uppers were made from Leather. 1995 saw Nike reissue the AM1 in the original Nylon and and synthetic suede and the following year saw the introduction of a small Nike Swoosh. International Collectors quickly came to love the Nike Air Max 1 and soon became a popular style within the USA. The Nike Air Max 1 is now possibly one of the most popular Nike styles, certainly within the UK. Collaborations with Patta, Kid Robot, Atmos and Clot have helped elevate the style to new levels.
