Anyone out there watch Phone Shop in the past? If you've ever done a stint in retail you can appreciate the nuances that ring so true about life on the shop floor. Well this week we've had a new member of staff start, Ross, and this week we're calling him new-man. We've thrown him in at the deep end and asked him to pick five kicks to feature in this week's On The Foot.
Recognising Ross as a regular face in Wellgosh, we all knew he had a slight fetish for an Asics Gel-Lyte III, so it was no surprise that he gravitated to these split-tongued beauties on the trainer wall. Comprised of buttery leather and premium suede, these iconic Asics kicks have reignited the 2015 flame that burned so strong through the 25th Anniversary of the Gel-Lyte III. A great execution of a great kick.
Theres been a lot of noise surrounding the Tailwind of late. Recent iterations saw Nike bring back the Tailwind IV with a collaboration with Surpeme earlier this year and in its OG colour way a few weeks back. Well this is where the story began. The Tailwind 79 was the fist trainer to feature Nike's Air technology; mad to think that without the above there would be no Air Max?!? So what looks like a classic vintage runner was totally revolutionary back then. This Baroque Brown colour is top notch.
Sandals and socks? Sandals and socks!?! Yep, sandals and socks. The world moves in mysterious ways, and since Japan's Suicoke began to make noise on western shores, the niche trend became more than acceptable to wear 'on road'. Well Ross is fresh back from travelling that side of the world and with a wealth of experience comes a wealth of style; he wears these Suicoke well.
Ross's first purchase since starting with us were these Vans Sk8-Hi Bricolage LX. It doesn't take a genius to work out where the name came from; this cut & sew, pick & stitch style Sk8-Hi has kept all the features you'd expect on the silhouette but revamped in a bricolage execution.
We think Ross is still living out all the peace, love and harmony he can find now he's back in Leicester. To aid his chase for Nirvana he has selected these Ying-Yang Converse 70s Chucks in Aphid Green. Nothing like brightening up that summer footwear wardrobe with a revamped classic. We salute.
