Silas Adler and Jacob Kampp Berliner established Soulland in 2002, rooting their design aesthetic in traditional Scandinavian craftsmanship updated with contemporary cuts and materials. All Soulland pieces are produced in Europe, and their signature hats are all handmade in Copenhagen. After being gaining critical acclaim from Danish and International fashion communities Soulland was introduced to the Danish market in August 2011. After Silas Adler/Soulland was named ‘Designer of the Year’ at DANSK Fashion Awards 2012, Soulland's 'The Babar meets Soulland' S/S 2013 collection was picked up by Colette, the collection featured licensed original art work from ‘Historie de Babar’ by Jean de Brunhoff.
The 'Katastrophe' Spring/Summer 2014 collection is the first Soulland line to arrive at wellgosh.com. The collection is inspired by the 'Bauhaus' a German school that combined arts and crafts and fine art in the early 20th century. The Bauhaus was probably the most important school to influence current architecture and design. Silas Adler (Head Designer) was particularly influenced by the manipulation of abstract and geometric shapes by the Bauhaus School.
One of the standout pieces from the collection is the 'Katastrophe' logo sweatshirt. The sweatshirt is manufactured in Europe, features a 'Katastrophe' toweling cotton applique expertly worked across the chest appearing in white, tying in with the contrast flecking applied all over the piece. The sweatshirt features all over doubled locked seams, ribbed sleeve cuffs, crew-neck collar and a ribbed hem-line. The Ribbon Pro Sweatshirt and Ribbon Emblem Sweater are also key seasonal pieces that feature in this collection, the Ribbon Pro Sweatshirt features a toweling applique worked onto the chest, with 'Soulland' applied in a cotton applique on the right sleeve, the Ribbon Emblem Sweater features an intricately multi-coloured embroidered Soulland graphic on the chest.
Newcomer Soulland provide a collection this season that stands out through it's intricate cut and sew techniques used to assemble high quality, durable sweaters and tees alongside the innovative application of embroidery and toweling applique throughout the line.
