Last Friday we celebrated the highly anticipated launch of the adidas Originals Malmo. Here in the UK, when we think Sweden, we think IKEA, blond hair, the Vikings, meatballs, ABBA, clean streets, a strong maternity (and paternity) package and a successful welfare system. By the sounds of things, Sweden is (almost) the perfect place to live. Throw in a truly iconic and celebrated trainer from the adidas Originals revered City Series?! Maybe it IS the perfect place to live!?
The Malmo was first introduced to the City Series in the late 70s, and with rereleases being few and far between; 2019's one-to-one reissue has had most of us adi-heads frothing at the mouth in anticipation. We teamed up with adidas to give a little back to those of you who have supported terrace culture here in Leicester and those of you prepared to travel from further afield to meet up with likeminded individuals to talk everything three stripes, music, clobber and the state of the current scene. There was food and drink a-plenty, gifts with every purchase and sounds from Grade 10 and The Illicits. Hopefully there was enough booze, food and good music going around to keep your minds off the B word, the T word and the forthcoming E word for the night.
Check out the flicks below to see how it went down.
A special thanks to Charlotte, Emerald, Chloe & Steph for helping make this event happen, Mrs. Bridges for supplying some great munch, Grade 10 (and in particular Greg GTI) for supplying the sounds, The Illicits for bringing the motherf*cking ruckus and of course adidas Originals for continuing to delve into their vast archive and deliver some more great trainers! History can't be bought.
P.S. ABBA can't be scrapped from Sweden's musical history, so Leicester still just pips it to the post as the best place in the world to live. We Salute!
