As we (hopefully) approach the end of lockdown here in he UK, & the restart of the unfinished football seasons, The Brand With The Three Stripes gets ready to launch the next installment of their revered City Series; the adidas Originals Frankfurt.
June 6th sees the rerelease of this cult-classic. It's proper marmite. It's WHAT are THOSE?! But also what ARE those? It's split opions here at Wellgosh, with some of the young-guns unable to appreciate a design classic when they see one, but I for one LOVE this funny looking velcro badboy.
Originally produced under license in Yugoslavia back in 1984, the adidas Originals Frankfurt was built on top of a Hamburg sole unit, & this one-to-one reissue has been executed with that very same sole (soul). Another nod to the OG, & the feature that really sells this kick to me is the open toebox. An unusual one for an adidas terrace trainer, but a design detail that compliments the triple velcro fastenings & turns this shoe from an ooo? to an ooo!!!
Executed in the buttery soft suede we've come to expect from an adidas City Series shoe, the adidas Originals Frankfurt is available now over on launches.wellgosh.com and releases 06/06/20 priced £85.
